Funny Story

I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying:
"Hi, how are yo u?"
I'm not the type to start a conversation in the restroom but I don't know what got into me, so I answered, somewhat embarrassed,
"Doin' just fine!"
And the other person says:
"So what are you up to?"
What kind of question is that? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say:
"Uhhh, I'm like you, just traveling!"
At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question.
"Can I come over?"
Ok, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell them
"No.......I'm a little busy right now!!!"
Then I hear the person say nervously...
"Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions


~ This didn't really happen to me. It was an email that I thought was funny enough to share.

~ Thought for the day ~

Will I ever be able to take my 3 kids to the grocery store without wanting to leave one or all of them there?

After a stressful trip to the grocery store, I called my mother for some sympathy and she informed me that I was the worst of all her children to take to the grocery store. I guess I'm getting what I deserve. I told her that shopping at midnight and getting mugged might be more fun than taking my kids in the afternoon. Tough call.

Puzzle fun!

We did it! We thought it would take at least a week to put together, but we did most of it Saturday night and finished the sky Sunday. Scott's parent's do a lot of puzzles and we've worked on some at their house, but have never done one ourselves. With nothing to do Saturday night, we went out and bought this 1000 piece puzzle. I was surprised how much fun we had! Good family time. Bradley even put a few pieces together. Here's what we accomplished.

Tagged

Ok, so my blog is typically for my family, or in other words, my kids. I have a few family members that live out of state and this website is an opportunity for them to see my kids and what they are up to. But, I've been tagged. Thank you Alicia. The rules are to post 6 items about yourself (habits, traits, deep dark secrets, etc.) on your blog, then tag 6 more people to do the same. I've been looking for an excuse to write more personal things about myself. It's taken a few days to come up with stuff that I think not a lot of people know. Here it goes.

1. I love "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies! I grew up watching them with my brothers and I love them! I like scary movies in general, but Freddie Kruger is my favorite.

2. I also love bacon. I think bacon is the only food I could eat every day and not get tired of (except chocolate, which I do eat every day). I love BLTs. Once (when I was pregnant) I ate a half pound of bacon all by myself. I know that's really gross, and I'm not sure why I told you that, but there it is. We all do things that are gross when we're pregnant.

3. I am a tummy sleeper. This makes sleeping very difficult when I am pregnant. This past pregnancy, I discovered that I was much more comfortable on an air mattress on the floor because I could sleep on my tummy. Also, when I'm pregnant, I snore really bad the last few months. A lot of times, Scott will end up on the couch because my snoring actually wakes him up. So, there were nights when our bed was empty because I was on the floor and Scott was on the couch. My loving husband never complained.

4. I used to be addicted to the soap opera "Days of Our Lives." I don't use the word "addicted" lightly either. When I would miss the show, I would go online to find out what happened. Sad, I know. The good news is, I broke myself of that habit a few months ago. Seriously, how much bad stuff could really happen to one family AND why do they keep making the same mistakes!!! Why can't the just be honest with each other!!!

5. I've found a new show to watch in it's place that is not so addicting. On the Discovery Channel at 2 pm, I watch "The Haunting." It's really the only t.v. I watch during the day, and it's during nap time, so I'm usually folding laundry or on my exercise bike while I watch. It's a show about haunted houses. They show a house a day and they have actors act out what happened while the people tell their stories. It's really interesting and I don't freak out if I miss an episode. However, the more I watch it, the more I think that my house may be haunted. Good thing Scott has the Priesthood and can take care of those ghosts for me if need be.

6. My favorite candy bar is Twix. It used to be Kit Kat. Then when I was in high school, I thought I'd try a Twix and discovered I love them! My Dad used to ask me to tell him this story over and over. He said he loved the story! I know this sounds weird, but if you've met my Dad, you'd know it's not so weird for him. I love you Dad!!! I'll tell you the story again if you'd like, it's been a few years since you've heard it.

Way to go, Jared!!!

We accomplished the impossible this weekend. Jared is potty-trained!! I am over-joyed at how quickly he picked it up. I am a firm believer in waiting until they are ready enough to train themselves. It worked for Bradley and it has now worked for Jared. Saved me a lot of stress and headache, and pee-stains on my carpet!! He looks so cute sitting on the potty. I'm so proud.
I thought about sharing a picture, but I thought I might live to regret it.

McBride Family Halloween Party

The McBride Family has had an annual Halloween Party for the past 3 years. Ever since Scott's parent's moved to New Mexico. This gives the Grandparent's a chance to see the kids in their Halloween costums. He have a blast every year and the cousins love seeing each other dressed up. Jack o' Lanterns

For Family Home Evening, we carved pumpkins, as I'm sure most of you did also!

We were actually quite proud of how our Jack o' Lanterns turned out.

I think these are the best yet for the McBride family.

Ward Halloween Party

The kids got a chance to wear their costumes early this year at the Ward Halloween Party. We had a great time! Jared's favorite was the Cake Walk. I think he was there for 30 minutes! Bradley scared everyone as a vampire! Here are some pictures.

We're not going anywhere!!!

Notice anything different about my house? No "for sale" sign out front! Yes, our house didn't sell, so we gave up and took it off the market, as of Sunday. We are not sad about this at all! We love our home, our ward, our friends and our neighbors. Bradley's doing well in school and I'm happy with his teacher, so we're glad not to have to change that. If our house would have sold, it would have been bitter sweet. We would have been happy to set forth on that adventure, but apparently, that wasn't the plan Heavenly Father had for us.

Happy day, all is well.

P.S. It's so nice to be messy again! Keeping the house tidy with 4 boys is not an easy chore.

Santiago, Chili - North

This is where my littlest brother Alan will be serving his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We opened his papers last week at my house and we all couldn't be more excited for him. He reports January 16th. This is the same mission that my other "little" brother served in. They aren't so little anymore, which means I'm not so little anymore, sigh. I'm so proud of Alan and his decision to serve the Lord. In my family, 4 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law and my husband have (or will have) all served in South America. Scott served in Caracas Venezuela.
- I think I need to learn to speak Spanish!

Since the last of my siblings is on his way out of the house, my Mom is also getting ready to "fly the coop!" The will be submitting her missionary papers soon and will serve 18 months while Alan is gone. Awesome! What a great experience that will be to have 2 missionaries out from my family! They will be wonderful examples to my children. We'll be writing a lot of letters over the next 2 years. Bradley is already saying he's going to serve his mission in California.

My big baby

Jack had his 2 month check-up last week. The poor baby had to get 6 shots, but he was very brave and only cried until the nurse picked him up. So he weighed in at 14 lbs 9 oz. He's in the 97% for height and for weight. So he's perfectly proportionate, he just looks like he's 6 months old instead of 2 months. He's wearing 3-6 months clothes. I love him so much! I just wish he would have stayed little longer. We're curious to see how they are when Jared starts wearing Jack's hand-me-downs.

Walmart

I, for some reason, have some interesting experiences with the employees at Wal-mart. One cashier actually told me she remembers me because I have a white baby, then a hispanic baby, then a white baby. I guess I should feel honored that she would remember me.

This has happened to me before, but it just happened again yesterday and I wanted to share it with you. Jared, Jack and I were waiting in line at Walmart. Of course, I picked the wrong line and had to wait 15 minutes. So, while I'm waiting in line, Jack starts crying. I love my new son, but he cries a lot and not always at the most convenient times. Anyway, I let him cry a little, thinking maybe it'll make the clerk hurry a little. It doesn't. I pick up Jack and start unloading my groceries onto the counter and load the bags back into my cart with one hand (does the cashier help me, nope!). When I get to the part where I have to pay, I had to put Jack down so I could search my purse for my debit card. The poor kid starts crying again and what does the cashier tell me? "He's hungry Mom." Now, why in the world would she think that she knows what my baby needs better than I do. What I said very politely was, "Well, he thinks he is." What I wish I would have said was something much more rude and told her to mind her own business. But I didn't because I'm a nice person. The thing is, is that people tell me that all the time! Like it's any of their business! Babies cry! All the time! Especially when they've been sitting in the line at Walmart for 15 minutes at the only check-out that's open while watching 10 other Wal-mart employees walking around the store doing nothing!

Ok, I feel better now. I guess I just needed to get that off my chest.

This is my brother Eddie, his son, Bryson, and Eddie's new wife Heather. They got married on Sept. 29th. I am so happy they found each other! I know they'll be together forever!!!

How it all began ...

A long-lost friend got my email address from another long lost friend and emailed this picture to me. This is mine and Scott's first date. An ASU football game. My favorite date ever. If I could go back in time, would I do it all again, ABSOLUTELY!!!! Aren't we cute! I look so young!

Happy Birthday Jared!!!

Jared had his 3rd birthday on Sept. 6th. His first birthday as a McBride. See his shinny new bike! He can't ride it yet, but he sat on it all morning. Now that the weather is finally cooling off, we'll have to take it outside for some practice.

Weekend at the Ranch

We went to New Mexico for Labor Day weekend to spend a few days with Scott's parents and in cooler weather. We drove up Friday morning and the drive was great! All 3 kids behaved themselves. Unfortunately, Scott woke up Saturday morning sick as a dog and threw up most of the day. Which meant he was in bed and missed all the fun. Sunday was great. We went to church and played games with the family. On Monday, it was Jared's turn to be sick. Thankfully, he got all his throwing up done before we left. The drive home was miserable. It took 2 hours longer, because of traffic, and Jack cried most of the way. He just doesn't like his carseat. Aside from Scott being sick, and the rough ride home, we had a great trip. It's always fun at Grandpa's house!!!

How'd this happen?

So Scott and I went in a few nights ago to check on the boys before we went to bed. Here's what we found. Somehow they had decided they wanted to sleep with the furniture. They each had a chair in their beds with them. Jared's arm is rapped around the leg of the chair. Those boys definately make life interested. What's it going to be like when there's 3 of them?!?!

Easter Egg Hunt

What a great Easter! The Easter Bunny brought scooters for the boys. (Why doesn't Mom and Dad get any credit for that?) Both boys had a great time finding the eggs and especially eating the candy inside!!!

The 3 Prego's

He's Here!!

After a year of hard work in the adoption process, we got to go to Guatemala to bring home our son, Jared Magno!! He was sad to leave his Foster Mother, but it didn't take long for him to love us. He attached himself to Scott really quickly since Scott could speak Spanish to him. By the end of the trip, he was calling Scott, "Papi!" and me, "Mommy!"

We were so happy to welcome Jared into our family! There was a nice welcoming party waiting for us at the airport. Jared wasn't scared at all! He was happy to be the center of attention! It was love at first sight for everyone in our family.

While we were in Guatemala, both Scott and I missed Bradley a lot! Whenever we talked to him on the phone, I would tell Bradley, "I can't wait to see you!!" He would reply with "I can't wait to see Magno!" Bradley could not wait to be a big brother and meet his little brother! It was truly amazing to see them quickly form a brotherhood bond. They play and they fight like they've been brothers for years!!

Jared's Blessing

Jared was given a name and a blessing on Friday, April 6th by his Dad, Scott. It was a beautiful blessing. Jared sat very reverently and even gave an "Amen" at the end. Everyone thought it was the cutest thing!! Everyone was confused when he was blessed as Magno McBride. Let me clear things up. We have not legally changed his name yet, so legally, his name is Magno McBride. Although we've been calling him Jared because soon that will be his legal name.

Families are Forever

Jared was sealed to our family on Saturday, April 7th. The day before Easter was the perfect day to seal him to our family forever! Jared and Bradley were both very well behaved during the sealing. They both seemed to understand what was happening and seemed to be truly happy about it! I couldn't be more proud. Seeing my boys in the Temple was an amazing experience. Ultimately one of the most spiritual experiences of my life. There is no doubt in mine or Scott's mind that Jared was meant to be a part of our family.

New Year's

We spent New Year's weekend in New Mexico with Scott's parent's. It had snowed and Bradley called it a "Winter Wonderland." Grandma and Grandpa had bought a couple of saucers. We tied a rope to one and pulled Bradley through the snow. He loved it! Laughing the whole time!
